What it is made of?
Seed beads or rocailles are uniformly shaped, spheroidal beads ranging in size from under a millimetre to several millimetres that are made of plastic and other items. Zulu bead jewellery is not only beautiful but is also rich in tradition and cultural meaning. The handmade bead work is sold to tourist as gifts, and is an important income source for the Zulu people. The beadwork was done by women using needle and thread, and particular colours and styles were favoured by certain groups or in certain areas.
